Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point of operation guards were not designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of their body in the danger zone during the operating cycle: a) In the NRG Maintenance Service Shop, on or about October 28, 2015, employees were exposed to caught-in hazards from improperly guarded rotating parts on a DoALL 13 Lathe (Model L-13-2 Serial 7501283-163) while performing finishing work on a valve pin. The guard did not prevent the operator from having their hands in the danger zone during the operating cycle. b) In the NRG Maintenance Service Shop, on November 5, 2015, an employee was exposed to caught-in hazards from improperly guarded rotating parts on a Lodge & Shipley Lathe ( Model L-18-3 Serial 47699) while performing milling on turbine work. The guard did not prevent the operator from having their hands in the danger zone during the operating cycle.
