Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. For Meadow Burke establishment at 511 Santa Fe Road, Tampa, FL 33619, as observed on or about 10/15/2015, employees were exposed to amputation hazards as a result of operation of the following machinery: a) A Meadow Burke Beam Bolster was being operated without rotating parts being guarded, employee suffered right finger tip amputation when trying to clear a jam on or about 10/06/2015.
