Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety & Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: LOCATION: Shop service area. Hazard of being struck by or crushed by automotive lift failure from poor maintenance due to the employer not establishing a periodic inspection procedure as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure the safe operation of the lift, as required in ANSI B153.1 1990 section 7.3. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to establish an inspection procedure as recommended by manufacturer and implement the inspection requirements, on or about 9/13/91.
