29 CFR 1910.147(c)(1): Energy control program. The employer shall establish a program consisting of energy control procedures, employee training and periodic inspections to ensure that before any employee performs any servicing or maintenance on a machine or equipment where the unexpected energizing, startup or release of stored energy could occur and cause injury, the machine or equipment shall be isolated from the energy source and rendered inoperative. a) Worksite, 129 Hanse Avenue, Freeport NY: Employee with the title of mechanic is required to provide repairs and maintenance on equipment such as, but not limited to Folder #5, Washer #1, and Washer #2 with numerous sources of energy. The employer did not provide the employee with a Lockout/Tagout program; on or about 9/30/15. Note: In addition to abatement certification, the employer is required to submit abatement documentation for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19.
