Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a potential crushing injury from falling axle or chassis parts due to failure of the end attachments: (a) Axle Mate - Various sizes of fixtures, used to lift and move components weighing up to 1100 pounds, were not rated for the loads they were subjected, on or about September 8, 1993. Among other methods, one feasible and accepable method to correct this hazard is to have the fixtures rated with a load capacity.
