Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: FALLING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that fallers were not provided with adequate escape paths: (a) Three Sisters Sale, Bayview, Idaho - On or about March 8, 1993 and at times prior thereto, the faller was working in holes in the snow 30 to 40 inches deep around trees and there was no escape path from the holes. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Shovel steps leading out of the hole and a path that will allow the faller to move a safe distance from the tree.
