Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: STRUCK BY
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) The hazard of being struck by or falling from a collapsing wood roof truss system, in that, the trusses at the construction site were not adequately braced to prevent collapse on or abouut 9/17/92. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement to correct this hazard is to install trusses in accordance with the Truss Plate Institute's "Bracing Wood Trusses, BWT-76" or the truss manufacturer's specifications as detailed in the truss design plan.
