Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard is: 1) Conduct periodic inspections (at least annually) of all auto lifts in accordance with manufacturer's specifications as required by American National Standards Institute, Inc., B153.1-1974 (Safety Requirements for The Construction, Care, and Use of Automotive Lifts) paragraph 6.3. 2) Maintain and repair all noted deficiencies found during the periodic inspection prior to returning to service. 3) Ensure that periodic inspections verify compliance with ANSI B.153.1- -1974, paragraphs 3 (construction), 5 (installation), and 6 (Maintenance, Use, and Inspection).
