Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: UNAPEQUIP
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to the hazards of pipeline collapse and pipe separation: a.) Modified Bitumen Rolled Roofing Department - A pipe hanger for a 2-inch diameter pipeline for 80 psi air was hanging from the pipeline by the emergency shower under the Fife guide and this 2-inch diameter pipeline was not supported along the horizontal run south of the emergency shower, the vertical run near the emergency shower, and a horizontal span of 15 to 20 feet north of the emergency shower, on or about 1/4/94. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to assure that piping systems are carried on adjustable hangers or properly leveled rigid hangers or supports and springs, sway bracing and vibration dampeners.
