29 CFR 1910.179(b)(5): Rated load marking. The rated load of the crane shall be plainly marked on each side of the crane, and if the crane has more than one hoisting unit, each hoist shall have its rated load marked on it or its load block and this marking shall be clearly legible from the ground or floor. a. On or about June 9, 2015, located in the High Bay, employees operated a 7-1/2 ton P & H overhead crane, serial number CH7025B, to hoist fabricated structures and metal material without having the rated load marking plainly marked on the crane that did not have a functional upper limit switch and running wire rope crushing and kinking, thereby exposing the employees to a struck-by/caught-in hazard.
