29 CFR 1926.1101(g)(11)(i): Before work began and as needed during the job, a competent person who was capable of identifying asbestos hazards in the workplace and selecting the appropriate control strategy for asbestos exposure and who had the authority to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate such hazards did not conduct an inspection of the worksite and did not determine that the roofing material was intact and was likely to remain intact: a) On or about April 20, 2015, Local Roofing Co., Inc. did not ensure that an appropriate control strategy for asbestos exposure was completed by a competent person immediately before or at the initiation of operations involving cutting and cleanup of asbestos containing material. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
