Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard:
OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment in a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees: On or about 4/20/2015 at 2200 Stephens Street, Tucker GA; employees performing sanding operations with the unguarded 5 inch DeWALT sander were exposed to struck-by hazards where the employer failed to use the tool in the intended manner. As per DeWALT, the sanding disc CANNOT be used with the grinding wheel as the support backing in lieu of the rubber backing pad or similar flexible material to allow for flexing during sanding operations. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
