29 CFR 1910.151(c): Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. The employer does not ensure that employees exposed to injurious corrosive materials have suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes, provided within the work area for immediate emergency use. This violation was observed on or about February 26, 2015 on the west exterior wall of the main Houston Garden Centers building where an existing eyewash was not in working order and employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials in the form of Clorox Regular Bleach (sodium hypochlorite). Pursuant to 29 C.F.R. 1903.19, within ten (10) calendar days of the abatement date, the employer must submit documentation showing that it is in compliance with the standard, including describing the steps that it is taking to ensure that employees exposed to injurious corrosive materials have suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes.
