Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish cmployment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing of likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) In the production area, employees were observed exposed to the hazards associated with falling overhead cranes (single girder underhung bridge cranes) in excess of 16 feet due to the lack of bridge bumpers installed on the adjacent ends of the two crane bridge located on the same runway. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install bridge bumpers on the adjacent end of the east crane.
