Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of emloyment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee in that: a) Employees were exposed to crushing injuries in that adequate inspections were not made, written records were not maintained of inspections, and maintenance records on all P/M presses were not maintained to assure safeguarding of press operations; Sizing Department and Molding Department - Bliss presses number 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 11, 21, 22 and Kux presses 15, 16, 17, 18 and Stoke presses numbers 14, 15, and Johnson press number 5. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method would be to implement a regular and periodic inspection and maintenance program and establish a record keeping program to record inspection, deficiencies and repairs to each P/M press.
