Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: LIFTING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to broken bones, of legs and feet from unexpected falling of load: (a) Fabrication Bay - One (1) ton Philadelphia Tramrail Company Crane had a single grinder with a under hung hoist and the lifting cable was broken in several areas with one strand unwound for grinders, on or about May 23, 1991. Among other methods, one feasible and useful method to abate this hazard is to replace crane cables and conduct inpsections of these cables.
