Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 002 Hazard: CRUSHING
Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: Employees in the plating area were exposed to crushing hazards from a falling 1-ton Yale hoist assembly and load in that; the attachment hook to the trolley was repaired by using a bent 3/4 inch pipe. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to use only repair parts meeting manufacturers specifications and ANSI B30.16-1989, paragraph 16-1.3.2.
