Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: a) The hazard of employees becoming exposed to hazardous vapors as a result of incompatible chemicals stored together, on the 7th floor of the NBC. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard would be to separate the 3 barrels of Corrosive Foster Acid from the 19 barrels of Hypochlorite solution laundry bleach by 100 feet or provide separate approved chemical storage rooms.
