Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to falling/tripping hazards. a) On or about September 19, 1988 and at times prior thereto, proper illumination was not provided for employee(s) in the walking and working areas of the cooling tower located on the roof of the building located at 1331-17th Street, Denver, Colorado, while performing maintenance work at night. Among other methods one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to install proper illumination based on the physical needs of the workers.
