29 CFR 1910.134(k)(1): The employer did not provide respirator training that ensured that each employee could demonstrate knowledge of at least the following elements: Why the respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; What the limitations and capabilities of the respirator are, and How to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators: Facility at 305A Maple Street, East Longmeadow, MA: On and before May 18, 2020, employees were required to wear N95 filtering-facepiece respirators while providing care such care as feeding, washing, dressing to residents who had tested positive for COVID-19, and they were not provided comprehensive training which ensured that each employee could demonstrate why the respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; what the limitations and capabilities of the respirator are, and how to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators, prior to initial required use of the respirator.
