29 CFR 1910.134(h)(2)(i): Respirators were not stored to protect them from damage, contamination, dust, sunlight, extreme temperatures, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals or were not packed or stored to prevent deformation of the facepiece and exhalation valve: a. On or about August 13, 2019, and at times previously, in the chemical mixing, plant grow areas and employee lockers, the employer allowed employees to store employer issued tight fitting, half and full face, respirators, in a file cabinet containing water bottles, chemicals, and excessive office and laboratory supplies. The respirators were subject to physical damage, excessive moisture, and damaging chemicals located in the cabinet. Damaged respirators exposed employees to health hazards such as, but limited to acute and chronic respiratory injury and illness.
