29 CFR 1910.134(k)(1):The employer did not provide respirator training that ensured that each employee could demonstrate knowledge of at least the following elements: Why the respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; What the limitations and capabilities of the respirator are; How to use the respirator effectively in emergency situations, including situations in which the respirator malfunctions; What the procedures are for maintenance and storage of the respirator, and How to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators: Colonnade Senior Development, LLC dba The Colonnade Senior Living, 700 Weber Road, O'Fallon, IL 62269: On or about 02/28/2021, the employer did not provide employees with effective training on the effects of improper fit, limitations, inspections, maintenance and care, medical signs and symptoms preventing effective use of N95 filtering facepiece respirators. The employer required employees in the facility to wear an N95 filtering facepiece respirator when entering the rooms of known COVID-19 positive residents to perform feeding, vital sign checks and other health care functions.
