Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.219(f)(3): Sprocket wheels and chains which were seven (7) feet or less above floors or platforms were not enclosed: a.) Collin Company, Kane Hardwood Division; sorter area -- Chain/Sprocket Assembly by Motor - - On or about 11/5/20, and at times prior thereto, chains and sprockets were not guarded to prevent employees from getting caught in them. The chain/sprocket assembly were located at ground level. In addition, the perimeter guarding was not so designed and constructed as to prevent the employees from being in the areas by the power transmission apparatus in that employees could by-pass the perimeter guarding by utilizing two different stairways. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
