Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a recognized hazard of electrical shock and burns: (a)M/V Yardarm Knot: In the lower deck cross companion way at the old laundry site, a 110-volt duplex outlet had an open neutral wire/conductor and the cover plate was loose, leaving an open gap on the side of the junction box. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method of abatement would be to rewire the outlet feeder conductors and replace the corner screws on the outlet cover plate.
