Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001D Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.147(c)(7)(i): The employer did not provide adequate training to ensure that employees acquired the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage and removal of energy control devices: (a) Concrete Crusher: Employees performing regular maintenance and repairs to the Eagle Jumbo 1000-15 Portable Plant concrete crusher were exposed to death or serious bodily injury while working within hazardous areas of the machine when the plant's diesel motor was running. Employees were exposed to hazardous energy from the machine's power transmission apparatus as well as electricity from the unit's onboard generator. The employer had not provided adequate training to ensure that employees acquired the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage and removal of energy control devices. Observed on or about 01/09/2015. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
