Section 5(a)(1) of Public Law 91-596, the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that, employees were exposed to being struck by falling 150 to 250 gallon propane tanks being transported with a below the hook lifting device. (a)Service Truck - On or about February 20, 2008 employees were exposed to struck by hazard from falling 150 to 250 gallon propane tanks. The spreader bar used to transport propane tanks did not have an identification stating the rated load for the spreader bar. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable method to abate this hazard is to: Comply wirh the requirements in American National Standard Institute, ANSI/ASME B30.20 - 1996 Section 20.1.2 Markings. The manufacturer's name and address, serial number, lifter weight and rated load of the lifting device shall be marked in the main structure where it is visible.
