29 CFR 1910.502(i): The employer did not install cleanable or disposable solid barriers, when such barriers were feasible at each fixed work location outside of direct patient care areas where each employee is not separated from all other people by at least 6 feet of distance. a) AMITA Alexian Brothers Medical Center located at 800 Biesterfield Rd. in Elk Grove Village, IL 60007: On or about August 26, 2021, the employer failed to install cleanable or disposable solid barriers in the Assembly and Sterilization section of the Sterile Processing Department. Technicians spent in excess of 15 minutes per shift in close proximity (less than 6 feet) from other employees when working in the Assembly and Sterilization section of the Sterile Processing Department. In accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19(d), abatement certification is required for this violation (using the CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation demonstrating that abatement is complete must be included with your certification. This documentation may include, but is not limited to, evidence of the purchase or repair of the equipment, photographic or video evidence of abatement, or other written records.
