Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001C Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.219(c)(2)(i):All exposed part(s) of horizontal shafting seven (7) feet or less from floor or working platform were not protected by stationary casing(s) enclosing shafting completely or by trough(s) enclosing sides and top or sides and bottom of shafting: a.) Collin Company, Kane Hardwood Division; sorter area - On or about 11/12/20, and at times prior thereto, two(2) shafts were unguarded. The shafts ran from the motors to the chain and sprockets on the line and were at ground level. In addition, the perimeter guarding was not so designed and constructed as to prevent the employees from being in the areas by the power transmission apparatus in that employees could by-pass the perimeter guarding by utilizing two different stairways. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
