29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1): Flights of stairs having four or more risers were not equipped with a standard railing as specified in paragraphs (d)(1)(i) through (v) of this section. a). Sorter Area - On or about and times prior to February 9, 2016, the metal stairway used to gain access to the stoner machine was not equipped with an intermediate rail on the left side descending, thus exposing employees to a fall hazard. b). Sorter and Gravity Area - On or about and times prior to February 9, 2016, the stairway used to gain access to the sorter holding bins was not equipped with an intermediate rail on the right side ascending, thus exposing employees to a fall hazard. c). Bag Off Loading Dock - On or about and times prior to February 9, 2016, the metal stairway used to gain access to the loading dock was not equipped with standard railing, thus exposing employees to a trip and fall hazard. Great Southern Peanut, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.23(d)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 962546, citation number 1, item number 5 and was affirmed as a final order on January 9, 2015, with respect to a workplace located at 132 Fifth Street, Leesburg, GA 31763.
