29 CFR 1910.95(k)(1): The employer did not train each employee who is exposed to noise at or above an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels in accordance with the requirements of this section. (a) Location: Aluminum Grinding Area: On or about February 18, 2015, a grinder operator (RO) was exposed to noise levels at 132% of the allowable 8 hour time-weighted average. The equivalent level of the 132% is approximately 92 dBA which is capable of causing permanent hearing loss. The sampling was performed for 483 minutes during one work shift on February 18, 2015. The noise level exceeded the 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels. The employee was not trained in the company's hearing conservation program. (b) Location: Sheetmetal and Aluminum Grinding Areas: On or about February 18, 2015, a grinder operator (TM) was exposed to noise levels at 80%of the allowable 8 hour time-weighted average. The equivalent level of the 80% is approximately 88.3 dBA which is capable of causing permanent hearing loss. The sampling was performed for 476 minutes during one work shift on February 18, 2015. The noise level exceeded the 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels. The employee was not trained in the company's hearing conservation program.
