Section 5(a)1 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish to each of his employees employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a drowning hazard: On or about 01/05/07, at the BallenIsles Community, employees were exposed to a drowning hazard when operating riding mowers on steep slopes near bodies of water. Among other methods of abatement, one feasible and acceptable method to correct the hazard is to prohibit employees from operating riding lawn mowers on steep slopes in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendation. PLEASE NOTE: CERTIFICATION AND DOCUMENTATION OF ABATEMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THIS VIOLATION.
