Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employmnent and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to hazard of being struck by wheels on crane: (b)West Bank, D-Dock #1 Fab Shop - On or about August 25, 1999, the wheels on the Ropco 20-Ton Straddle Crane Truck were not provided with personnel deflecting guards around the leading edges of front and rear wheels. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement to correct this hazard is to install guards in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1917.43(g)(2)(iii): When straddle trucks are used in the vicinity of employees, personnel-deflecting guards shall be provided around leading edges of front and rear wheels.
