29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. a. On or about June 7, 2024, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure that employees utilized eye protection when utilizing liquid chemicals such as, but not limited to, Ecolab 66 Heavy Duty Alkaline Bathroom Cleaner and Disinfectant, Ecolab Stainblaster Grease Remover, Ecolab Liquid Laundry Chlorine Bleach, Ecolab Stainblaster Makeup Remover, Ecolab Liquid Laundry Built Detergent, Ecolab Liquid Laundry Sour with Iron Control, Ecolab Rapid Multi Surface Disinfectant Cleaner, Ecolab Stain Blaster Destainer, and Ecolab Liquid Laundry Softener. As a result, employees were exposed to contact with chemicals in the eyes and associated eye injuries during cleaning and housekeeping work.
