29 CFR 1926.651(i)(3): Sidewalks, pavements and appurtenant structure shall not be undermined unless a support system or another method of protection is provided to protect employees from the possible collapse of such structures. a) On or about April 23, 2024, the employer did not provide a support system or another method of protection to protect employees from the possible collapse of sidewalks, pavements, and appurtenant structures while performing excavation work, including but not limited to undermining near a track and sidewalk, exposing employees to crush-by, caught-in, or struck-by hazards.
