Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.307(c): Equipment, wiring methods, and installations of equipment in hazardous (classified) locations were not intrinsically safe, approved for the hazardous (classified) location, or safe for the hazardous (classified) location: (a) Main Building, Baler and Shredder Area - Employees emptied cardboard dust (a Class II combustible dust) from the enclosureless dust collection bags. This operation has the potential for creating a combustible dust cloud, and not all electrical installations in the vicinity were safe (dust-tight) for a Class II Division 2 hazardous area, including, but not limited to, the main disconnect panel on the rear of the Balemaster baler because this panel had open screw holes that would permit combustible dust to enter the panel, exposing employees to the hazards of fire and explosion, on or about March 12, 2024. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and state employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
