Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1910.1026(f)(1)(i): Feasible engineering controls and work practices were not instituted to reduce and maintain employee exposures to chromium (VI) at or below the permissible exposure limit: a) Rear Frame Assembly Area, Welding Stations, Posts and Sills: An employee was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 7.63 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 1.5 times the Permissible Exposure Limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for 359 minutes on January 3, 2024. Zero exposure was assumed for the 121 minutes not sampled. The employer did not implement feasible engineering controls and work practices to reduce employee exposure levels to below the Permissible Exposure Limit for hexavalent chromium. b) Rear Frame Assembly Area, Welding Station, Finish (Bottom): An employee was exposed to hexavalent chromium at an 8-hour time-weighted average of 8.45 micrograms per cubic meter of air, approximately 1.7 times the Permissible Exposure Limit of 5 micrograms per cubic meter of air. Sampling was performed for 385 minutes on January 3, 2024. Zero exposure was assumed for the 95 minutes not sampled. The employer did not implement feasible engineering controls and work practices to reduce employee exposure levels to below the Permissible Exposure Limit for hexavalent chromium.
