29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. Building 601: On or before December 14, 2022, an employee utilized hazardous chemicals such as Peroxide Multi Surface Cleaner and Disinfectant, and QC 50 Ultra Concentrated Glass Cleaner to conduct assigned custodial tasks. In the following locations: a) Front Desk Custodian Closet: Safety glasses with side shields, goggles, and/or face shield were not utilized while conducting wiping and cleaning tasks. b) Second floor chemical refilling station: safety glasses with side shields, goggles and/or face shields were not utilized while replacing 0.34 gallons chemical cartridges, and then refilling 32 oz. spray bottles. Employee was exposed to serious eye hazard(s).
