29 CFR 1910.36(g)(2): An exit access must be at least 28 inches (71.1 cm) wide at all points. Where there is only one exit access leading to an exit or exit discharge, the width of the exit and exit discharge must be at least equal to the width of the exit access. The employer does not ensure that all emergency exit accesses are at least 28 inches wide at all points. a) This most recently occurred on or about November 15, 2022, in the receiving room of Dollar General Store No. 6509, located at 991 Marquette Street in Kewaunee, Wisconsin; The emergency exit in the receiving room is inaccessible when its access to it is blocked with two rolltainers, bags of garbage, and a garbage can. Access to the exit is restricted to approximately 16 inches. b) This most recently occurred on or about November 16, 2022, in the front of the store near the bathroom and front doors of Dollar General Store No. 6509, located at 991 Marquette Street in Kewaunee, Wisconsin; The emergency exit at the front of the store is inaccessible from the restroom. Access to the exit is partially obstructed with wheeled carts loaded with merchandise. Access to the exit was restricted from the bathroom to the front door to approximately 16 and 23 inches.
