29 CFR 1910.147(d):Application of control. The established procedures for the application of energy control (the lockout or tagout procedures) shall cover the following elements and actions and shall be done in the following sequence: On or about July 7, 2022, the employer did not ensure employees performing cleaning and sanitation of the Line 1 Deboning Machine inclined conveyor applied and followed the established energy control procedures by; turning off or shutting down the adjacent Line 1 Deboning Machine horizontal exit conveyor located approximately 10 inches above the inclined conveyor [per 1910.147(d)(2)], isolating the horizontal exit conveyor from the electrical energy source [(d)(3)], affixing lockout device(s) to the energy isolation devices on the horizontal exit conveyor [(d)(4)(i)], and/or verifying de-energization and isolation had been accomplished [(d)(6)], prior to cleaning and sanitizing the inclined conveyor.
