29 CFR 1910.95(g)(1): The employer did not establish and maintain an audiometric testing program as provided by 29 CFR 1910.95(g) by making audiometric testing available to all employees whose exposures equal or exceed an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels: Audiometric testing was not made available to all employees whose exposures equaled or exceeded an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels: (a) In the mechanical shop, a welder on the wreck team was exposed to noise levels at 142.6% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA). The equivalent dBA level of 142.6% is approximately 92.5 dBA. Sampling was performed for 388 minutes during one shift. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time. (b) In the mechanical shop, a welder for hopper cars was exposed to noise levels at 104.7% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA). The equivalent dBA level of 104.7% is approximately 90.3 dBA. Sampling was performed for 402 minutes during one shift. Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled time.
