29 CFR 1910.134(d)(1):The employer shall evaluate respiratory hazard(s) in the workplace, identify relevant workplace and user factors, and base respirator selection on these factors. Kitty Hawk, NC: On or about October 14, 2020, the employer did not ensure that a respiratory assessment was conducted that included the evaluation and selection of appropriate respirators for employees subjected to nuisance level vapors and dust hazards associated with the use of waxes, solvents, glues and cleaners. The employer required employees to wear 3M half-half elastomeric respirators while engaging in minor recreational water vehicle patching and touch up maintenance work. ABATEMENT DOCUMENATATION REQUIRED
