29 CFR 1910.30(a)(1): (a) Fall hazards. (1) Before any employee is exposed to a fall hazard, the employer must provide training for each employee who uses personal fall protection systems or who is required to be trained as specified elsewhere in this subpart. Employers must ensure employees are trained in the requirements of this paragraph on or before May 17, 2017. a. On or about October 9, 2018, at a residential home in Upper Arlington, Ohio, inadequately trained employees cleaned gutters while working from a second story roof without any means of fall protection, exposing the employees to a fall hazard of approximately 20 feet. On October 9, 2018, an employee fell approximately 20 feet from the roof to the ground, without any means of fall protection. The employee suffered severe injuries from the fall.
