Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.502(b)(3): Guardrail systems shall be capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied within 2 inches (5.1 cm) of the top edge, in any outward or downward direction, at any point along the top edge: (a) MRG Construction LLC, at 5959 N Dunkirk Street, Denver, CO: On or about 10/12/18, the employer did not ensure that guardrail systems were capable of withstanding, without failure, a force of at least 200 pounds (890 N) applied within 2 inches (5.1 cm) of the top edge, in any outward or downward direction, at any point along the top edge. Employees were installing exterior sheathing on a two-story multi-family residential structure. An employee secured the sheathing by leaning outward through a wall opening on the second floor. The employee fell approximately 11 feet to the ground when the guardrail failed. The guardrail had not been secured at both ends. This condition exposed the employee to an approximate 11 foot fall hazard.
