Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:
29 CFR 1926.55(b): When administrative or engineering controls were not feasible to achieve full compliance, protective equipment or other protective measures were not used to keep the exposure of employees to air contaminants within the limits prescribed by 29 CFR 1926.55: a) Greenville Overlook, Lot #88 - On or about April 27, 2018, where engineering and administrative controls were not implemented to prevent overexposure, the employer failed to ensure that protective equipment or other protective measures were used to keep the exposure of employees to air contaminants within the limits. An employee operating a fuel powered Ryobi 2700 pressure washer in a basement was exposed an 8 hour time weighted average (TWA) of 196.3 ppm CO, which is greater than 3.93 times the OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) for Carbon Monoxide (CO) of 50 parts per million (ppm). The exposure was determined by using post-exposure carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) measurement.
