29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8): The employer did not provide protection for repair pits less than ten feet deep in accordance with the requirements outlined in 29 CFR 1910.28(b)(8)(i) through (b)(8)(iii): (a) Service Garage, Repair Pit - Employees performed vehicle service and repair work in the service garage near a repair pit that measured approximately 54 inches deep. The employer had not adequately marked the pit area or otherwise restricted access to the repair pit area to only employees who had been trained and authorized to work near the pit, thereby exposing the employees to fall hazards, on or about November 1, 2017. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
