Text For Citation: 01 Item/Group: 001B Hazard:

29 CFR 1926.760(d)(2): Fall arrest system components used in fall restraint systems did not conform to the criteria in 1926.502. The employer is failing to ensure employee fall protection equipment meets the minimum criteria for preventing falls while performing steel erection activities. This was most recently documented at 27532 West Hwy 30, Sutherland, Nebraska where an employee was using a lanyard looped through itself at the anchorage point, while attaching a platform to an elevator leg, and the lanyard was not designed for such use. Also, the employer did not ensure the anchorage points were evaluated and utilized as part of a fall protection system. Abatement certification and abatement documentation is required for this violation. The documentation should include written verification of abatement, applicable measurements or monitoring results, and photographs or videos which you believe will be helpful. The abatement certification sheet is enclosed.
