29 CFR 1910.23(c)(3): Regardless of height, open-sided floors, walkways, platforms, or runways above or adjacent to dangerous equipment, pickling or galvanizing tanks, degreasing units, and similar hazards shall be guarded with a standard railing and toe board. a. At the workplace in Peeler Area, employees were exposed to an open pit, approximately two foot deep, which contained titanium metal shavings and Tech Cool 35300, a caustic coolant. Employees were not guarded from the pit by a standard railing.
