Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The %% employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to: (a) On or about August 22, 1990 and at times prior thereto, employee(s) were exposed to hazards associated with working on, in or around the slat conveyor which did not have a emergency stop/pull cord though it started without an audible warning/delay device and was operated by a control panel from which the lower part of the conveyor was not visible. Among other methods, one feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is: Installation of an emergency stop pull cord or trip wire along all accessible portions of the length of the conveyor.
