29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1): Each employee in an excavation was not protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance paragraph (b) or (c) of 29 CFR 1926.652. a) Jobsite: Sidewalk, south side of street - On or about 11/25/13, a protective system was not used to protect employees from cave-in hazards while woking in an excavation measuring 5' 6" deep on the north end and 3' 4" deep on the south end, 6' 8" wide on the north end, 5' 3" wide on the south end, and 16 feet in length. Employees were moving and bracing a two (2) inch water line at the base of the excavation.
