OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employee(s) in that employee(s) were exposed to the hazard of being caught by: Inside of the Machine Shop, the following machines were not equipped with emergency stops: a/ American Pacemaker Lathe, m/n 20 X 72, s/n 72079-50. b/ Select Machine Tool Lathe, s/n 8230. c/ Lathe, m/n 15 X 40, s/n A3001. d/ American Pacemaker Lathe, m/n 16 X 78, s/n 69478-46. e/ Lodge & Shipley 27-Inch Lathe 12.5-Inch Hollow Spindle, s/n 37315. One method of abatement to correct this apparent hazard is to install emergency stops as required by ANSI B11.6, paragraph 6.12.3.
